Network+ certification course offered as online workshop from peerPros
AUGUSTA, GA -- peerPros has made available the Network+ certification preparation workshop. This workshop will prepare the candidate to successfully complete the Network+ certification exam.
Network+ has been accepted by Novell, Lotus, 3Com and Cisco, and included in many of their training curricula.
CompTIA's Network+ certification program will certify that the successful candidates know the layers of the OSI model, can describe the features and functions of network components and have skills needed to install, configure, and troubleshoot basic networking hardware peripherals and protocols.
A typical candidate should have A+ certification or equivalent knowledge, but A+ certification is not required. In addition to A+ certification level knowledge, candidates are encouraged to have at least 9 months of experience in network support or administration.
The course covers the fundamentals of local area networks (LANs), the seven-layer Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) network model, and network operating systems (including NetWare, Windows NT, and to a lesser degree Unix variants). Students will find information on the TCP/IP protocol suite, including some of the utility programs used to configure it locally and remotely as well as the duties of a network administrator, good troubleshooting practices, and the issues involved in network security.
Students will learn about Network Operating Systems (NOS). They will learn how to set up standard operating procedures, administer change control systems, plan a customer's job, maintain the network, implement change control systems, and implement the installation of a network. They will also manage support efforts, and design and troubleshoot the network. Students will also learn to analyze/evaluate the accountability of new technology, and develop documentation and SOP's.
The workshop is priced at $827 till the end of 2001 (special pricing in response to September 11th events) after which it will return to its normal price of $977.
